    HIGH SCHOOL PREPARATION

    Overseas High School students intending to study at New Zealand High Schools need a good level of English in order to get the most out of their High School Classes. Direct enrolment into New Zealand High School is possible but it is recommended that students improve their English and learn about New Zealand before attempting to study at the High Schools.

    The WIE High School Preparation Programme prepares international students for enrolment at High School in New Zealand .

    Course content includes NZ culture, specialised High School English, Research and report writing skills.

    Occupational English Test Preparation

    WHAT IS OET?
    OET is Occupational English Test — A language test for health practitioners who have qualified to practice in one country and wish to gain provisional registration to practice their profession in another which has an English-speaking context. The test measures the language competency of health practitioners who are seeking registration and the ability to practice in an English speaking context. It is designed to ensure that language competency is assessed in a relevant professional context. Each OET sub-test is scored as one of five grades, from A - E. A is the highest grade, E is the lowest. Most professional registration bodies require a minimum of B in each sub-test.

For several years Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) has been one of New Zealand's leading English language schools, offering quality English Courses in New Zealand. WIE is a New Zealand Government Approved Institution, and registered with the NZ Ministry of Education. All WIE programmes are accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) is the only authorised Cambridge English, Occupational English Test (OET) and IELTS Pre-Test Examinations Centre in Waikato and Bay of Plenty, and the only testing centre for TOEIC in Hamilton.
Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) is one of only a few English Language Schools to receive two types of funding for English language courses from the New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). WIE receives Student Achievement Component Funding, ACE Communities funding and English for Migrants Funding.

WIE’s New Zealand Certificates in English Language are nationally recognised qualifications for learners of English as a second language. They can be used as evidence of English ability for direct entry to further tertiary studies in New Zealand.

The School Rules at WIE are similar to those of most schools.

1. If you wish to withdraw your application before your course starts, you must apply in writing to the Principal and include any relevant or supporting documents. If you are an international student, the Offer of Place document MUST be returned to Waikato Institute of Education in order for the refund to be processed.
2. If you are an international student and you are enrolled for a course that is less than three months* and withdraw (i.e. decide not to continue your studies) after your course starts, the following refund entitlement will apply:
a) If you withdraw within TWO study days of the start of your course for courses of up to and including four weeks and six study days you will be entitled to a 50% refund of course fees*
b) If you withdraw within FIVE study days for courses between five and 11 weeks and six study days you will be entitled to a 75% refund of course fees.
3. If you are an international student and you are enrolled in a course that is three months* or longer and withdraw (i.e. decide not to continue your studies) within TEN study days of the start of your course, you will be entitled to a refund.
However, an amount equal to 25% will be retained (deducted) from your total course payment to cover costs incurred in your enrollment.
4. If you are an international student and you are enrolled for a course that is three months or longer and withdraw after 10 study days of the start of the course, you will not be entitled to a refund.
