Want more from a school than traditional classrooms and text books? International House Whistler is the place for you! IH Whistler provides a window on Canadian culture, with ready access to nature and world-class outdoor activities.

Located in North America’s #1resort community, IH Whistler offers students educational choices that range from General English and Test Preparation to Environmental Studies programs. Play hard, study hard. Come and discover Whistler!

1 Students are required to attend all of their classes. If you cannot attend a class, you should notify your teacher(s) or the school office before class. If you are absent for more than 20% of your classes in a month, neither a certificate nor a report card will be issued. It is your responsibility to make up any missed assignments or tests.

2 Students must be on time for class. If you are more than ten minutes late, you will not be allowed into the classroom until after the break. Being late three times will be counted as one absence.

3 There is an ENGLISH ONLY policy at the school. Students wishing to speak their native language may do so after exiting the building or when given permission by a teacher. Please use Skype in a classroom with the door closed out of respect for the other students.

4 When you are given homework assignments, you are expected to complete them. Remember: we cannot help you learn if you don’t help yourself.

5 Class or level changes take place on Mondays only. All class or level changes must be approved by the office the week before.
To change your classes, you must take a level assessment test as well as be approved by your current teacher.

6 The IH office must be notified of all program changes and/or school breaks at least two weeks in advance.

7 A certificate is awarded to students upon successfully completing their courses at IH (and meeting 80% attendance requirements).
You will receive your certificate on your final day of class. Please confirm your finish date one week prior to your final day.

8 Food is not permitted in the classroom during class time. Bottled water or soft drinks are allowed. Students can eat lunch in the student lounges, or in classrooms (with the teacher’s permission).

9 Smoking is not allowed inside the school. The designated smoking area is outside at least 3m from the doorway or any intake fan.

10 Any student found with illegal substances, causing harm to other students or staff, damaging school property or any behaviour that is considered inappropriate or offensive will be dismissed from the school with no refund given.
